Every time I queue up and get into a C’Thun vs. Yes, there were powerful mechs and dragons, and certain decks are hinged on pretty specific cards sometimes, but this feels like an entirely new level. It’s very un- Hearthstone to put this much weight on a single card. Something just feels off about the whole C’Thun deck strategy to me. If you’re not wiped out immediately by his battlecry damage, you have a massive 12/12 or higher (sometimes much higher) creature on the board, so you better hope you have some way to instantly remove him in your hand. This happens over and over where C’Thun is just such a blockbuster that if turn ten comes and he’s able to be played at reasonable stats, it’s game over. The Warrior was down, way down, all game, but drew his C'Thun first. Druid game the other day where I was literally down to my last two cards, and lost because I didn’t get my 32/32 C’Thun at any point. I have played so, so many games over the last few days that are only about whether one player draws C’Thun or not in a timely manner. So is the Warrior’s Ancient Shieldbearer that instantly grants 10 armor if your C’Thun is 10/10. From what I’ve seen, the Druid’s Klaxxi Amber-Weaver than can usually be a 4/10 minion on turn 4 if your C’Thun is at least 10/10 is just insane. Everyone is building C’Thun decks now, but unlike those others, there is usually an end-all, be all card that singlehandedly decides the outcome of the game.Īs with past expansions, certain classes get an advantage because they have specialized C’Thun minions that are simply better than others. This is different than past expansions where everyone was building mech decks with every class after GvG, or Dragon decks after Blackrock. I can’t speak for the pros, of course, but the introduction of so many decks focused on C’Thun and C’Thun alone has led to a lot of games that are so heavily based around drawing one card, and it’s not terribly fun or engaging. I’m not sure I like what this is doing to the metagame, at least in the “average” level I’m playing at.
